In terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Pomegranate is known for its ability to tonify yin. It also helps to clear heat.

In general the ancient Chinese medical texts cite that it enters the Lung, Stomach, Spleen, Large Intestine, and Urine Bladder. The flavor of Pomegranate is Tonify Yin, and it is considered to be neutral to slightly warm in temperature.

Pomegranate tonifies blood and helps to stop diarrhea since it astringes the intestines. It may also help with incontinence, anemia, nocturnal emission, thirst, and diabetes [22].

For diabetes with excessive thirst drink 1 cup of cucumber and unsweetened pomegranate juice daily. For incontinence mix equal portions of cranberry and pomegranate and drink 2 glasses daily. For diarrhea grind pomegranate into powder and take 1 teaspoon with warm water three times daily. [22]
Contraindications: Avoid pomegranate with symptoms of constipation, common cold, or flu. [22]
